2007.08.28 :: now 40% bigger!

I've done hours of housecleaning in the code for the site, and you may not notice all that work. It's okay, my feelings aren't hurt. Fact is, there are so many tasks in life that you can spend forever doing, only for no one to notice. My thanks is knowing everything should run smoothly. There is one change that is more obvious to the average user. When you watch the videos from before this past indoor season, you will notice how much bigger they are (up to 45% bigger)! They had to be scaled down to fit in the layout of the page, until I made a small change a few months ago which allows them to be viewed at their full size. Hopefully all this work will set me up so I can start adding the tons of backlogged media that isn't available to you yet ;)

2007.07.13 :: remembering a friend
	Memorial services for Chaz are scheduled for Tuesday, July 17th, 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Harleysville, PA. 2007.07.12 :: we've lost one of our own
	This afternoon, Chaz Hunsdorfer passed away. The band room will be open from 6-9 this evening for anyone who wants to come by.

2007.07.11 :: special request for a family member
	Earlier today, Chaz Hunsdorfer sustained serious injuries when a car hit him while he was riding his bike. I do not know the extend of the injuries, nor do know his current condition. Please keep him, his family, and his doctors in your thoughts and prayers. When I get any updates, I'll try to post them here. Good Luck and Godspeed, Chaz!

2006.11.20 :: Toto, where did you find that video camera?

Last week was a tornado of activity for me, but I'm finally able to start putting things back where they belong. That includes the championships video on this site :) I also added some pictures to the album from Katie George, Steve Rich, and myself. Don't forget - if you have digital pictures, put them on a CD and get them to me so I can post them on this site! They don't have to be from this season, either - any pictures I don't have are welcome :)

2006.10.20 :: Updated design, more work for me :)
	Along with the updated design, I have added more photos to the 2006mb album. I will be transitioning code from the old layout to this one as I have time, so you may not see some of the old media for a little while.

2006.10.13 :: Good new toys always need batteries

I just figured out that the new recording interface I got is considered a high drain device. How did I figure this out? The batteries going dead before the performance was a good clue. Regardless, the video is up and it's sporting a brand new fall fashion - split screen featuring camera angles from the press box and the track (the DVD in the band room has each angle individually accessible). It also has two audio tracks, with the second coming not from the mics above the pit, but rather the ones built into the video camera that was on the track. Once again, you can switch the audio track by right clicking on the video when it's playing.

2006.10.09 :: Too much for one person to do
	The Spring Ford competition video is up, but it doesn't have the extra audio or video tracks I had planned on adding. Turns out I forgot to press the record button on the second camera. Hopefully I'll be able to get some help for future performances...

2006.10.03 :: Any suggestions?
	The video from the Homecoming football game is now available. I am interested in any feedback or ideas from anyone who reads this. 2006.09.25 :: I'll bet I'm the only one

You want options? I'll give ya options! The videos now come with a second audio track recorded in stereo at field level right down in front of the band! To hear the second audio track, right click anywhere on the video and highlight Audio and choose the second track. If you do not see the Audio option in your right click menu, click Check for Updates and update your player first. Videos which have this second audio track have the designation [d/a] at the end of their names.

2006.09.18 :: Hitting the ground marching
	The North Penn hosted show at CB West is up. The band placed first in their group with a score of 69.05. Congratulations! There are almost 1300 photos in the album now, with more being added as I take/receive them. Don't forget if you take pictures (or a friend or family member takes some), get them to me and I'll post them in the online album :)

2006.09.08 :: You lose some, you win some

A bad spot on the tape prevented the intro from being recorded, so the video starts with the opener. The digital static at the beginning lasts about 20 seconds, and there is one small blip after that. There are some pics up in a temporary album. Click here to go to the current home of all PV pictures. The link is also under the 2006mb section and will be added to other sections as photos are uploaded.

2006.09.06 :: Someone sure has a lot of free time
	Revised the 2006 Marching Band, 2006 Indoor Guard, and 2006 Percussion Ensemble sections. All the videos in these sections can be viewed in your browser or downloaded. I have added videos from indoor Chapter Championships (guard and percussion) and Wildwood (percussion). I had run out of room on my old server and forgot I didn't add these on the new server. Enjoy!

2006.08.29 :: First glimpse

The first two video clips (of the Parent Preview) are available for online viewing and download. I need your help! I would like to create an online photo album in addition to what's already available on this site, but I just don't have the time to take the pictures. So kids and parents - bring your cameras to rehearsals and shows! There are a million ways to get the pictures to me - email, cd, USB flash drive, lending your media to me for a day or two, etc. - so let's get those shutters shuttering :) As a starting point, the best shots are usually those of individuals and small groups... Have a camera phone? Send your photos to pics@perkvalleymusic.org (picture messaging rates depend on your wireless plan).

2006.08.20 :: Baby steps

I've added the code for a couple video clips that you can try out if you have downloaded and installed the DivX web browser plugin (under the "Necessary Software" link above). Go to 2006 > Indoor Percussion > Video and you can click on the bottom two shows. If everything is working as it should, you should be watching the video in your browser! You can right-click the video if you want to save it to your computer, or you can still right-click the triangle to the left of the text.

Actually there really is a lot of work to be done, and I do actually have personal responsibilities to attend to. Regardless, the spring band concert files (and some from the chorus) are now online. The rest of the chorus concert is being worked on and will be followed by the orchestra concert. Does anyone have or did anyone buy the dvd of the guard's finals performance in Wildwood? email me - pvmedia<at>viperlabs<dot>com I updated the help page and discovered the problem with the browser plugin. It will probably work fine for almost everyone, so I'll add the code for the links soon.

2006.03.13 :: It's good to be liked!
	I have posted better video files from this past weekend. If the one(s) you have are not widescreen-looking, you should download the new ones!

2006.03.12 :: Up for 22 hrs. for your benefit ;)

New indoor files have been posted. The new video files that were added were recorded with the help of a wide angle lens. If the picture looks curved anywhere, now you know why. You may notice that the clips are not in their usual widescreen format. My computer hates me, and when it stops I'll be able to create new (better quality and smaller file size) files. So far the web player plugin is not working for me at all, so it looks as though that option will be delayed for a while. I must be living in the wrong year. First I noticed that almost every date in the 2006 section was 2005. Then I noticed that many file names began with 2066 instead of 2006. If you downloaded any 2006 files recently, they may be labeled with the wrong year :)

The new files are available. If an arrow appears to the left of the event name, that's what you click to download the file to your computer (doesn't use the new plugin). Clicking the event name itself (when it becomes a link) will open the file in your browser and use the plugin. I will be testing the browser plugin for the next couple days. Any other questions might be explained under the Help link above.

	I'm having a small problem with the videos. Another day or two should clear things up.

I added a documents section where you can find documents you might need throughout the year. If it's something you need to fill out (progress checks), you can type in what you need and save it on your computer. Now you can print them out as many times as you like without having to fill in the spaces! Currently the only progress check available is the one which is customized for the percussion ensemble. A generic version is in the approval phase and should appear shortly :) Videos will hopefully be available Monday. There will eventually be two different links for each video - one to download the file directly, and the other to watch it in your browser. I will try to add some information in the help section to explain the benefits of installing the plugin.

A new DivX codec was released. Please click on Necessary Software above to download the codec. Double click the EXE file to install the new codec. A note about new media files: sometimes I have connection problems during the hours I usually upload files.
